Arts-Up: A work in progress
Arts –Up is the creation of a few visual arts specialists and multimedia designers. Its aim is to bring today’s art to the public at large while its dream is to contribute to the emergence of contemporary artists.

Though it is a francophone association, its members are from numerous geographic and cultural backgrounds. This diversity, along with modern communication technologies, enables the project to reach an international audience at a rapid pace.

Today Arts-Up is an interactive community of several thousand artists throughout the world.

Arts-Up is open to all artists
All disciplines are represented: painting, photography, sculpture, textile art, collage… Arts-Up is open to all artists, without elitist or demagogical considerations. Professional artists who live from their art spearhead the project but talented amateurs who produce high quality work are also welcome.

Arts-Up relies on modern technology
Arts-Up relies on modern means of communication, particularly the Internet, to share the vast amount of information that flows from its members.

On the website – www.arts-up.info – the artists can search a rich database providing helpful material, such as location and contact information of art galleries and other exhibition venues throughout the world. Every month, the website receives tens of thousands visitors.

Arts-Up also sees the Internet as an innovative avenue for artists to be recognized. Its virtual gallery – Mirondella – permanently hosts hundreds of exhibitors. Each artist can modify the format and/or content of his/her work at will. There is no commission fees attached to any sale.

Each year, Arts-Up puts together several very successful thematic exhibitions on line. These virtual exhibits are open to all artist members throughout the world and all styles are accepted.

Given Arts-Up’s reach, this project allows the selected artists to showcase their artwork to thousands of visitors. Only the greatest names of the world of art can reach such a large audience in a conventional exhibit. Lukáš Kandl, born in Prague (Czech Republic) who just won the “Grand Prix Arts-Up” has exceeded 75,000 visitors during the Spring 2007 exhibit.

There are numerous applicants but unfortunately only a few are chosen. Arts-Up’s jury selects between 10 and 20 applicants depending on the theme. Only 6 submissions are accepted per participant. The jury lists applicants who have submitted high quality art, but were not selected, in “Artistes de Référence” along with their contact information (email, phone, or postal address) and with a small visual sample of their work. Each exhibition lasts three months, beginning January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st. The themes are published on the website at least 3 months ahead of time and the application deadline is 15 days before the start of the exhibition.

The Arts-Up Awards
Each year, Arts-Up grants awards. The jury selects the winner in a given discipline among the 10 artists who received the largest number of visitors in the virtual gallery. www.arts-up.info
